The Story of the Lioness and the Lily

I have always been fascinated by lions because of their very unique and powerful characteristics. Lions are the only cats who live in groups.  Isn't that amazing?  They rely on, support and defend each other to sustain the pride.

The lionesses in a pride remain connected for life and do almost everything together.  They hunt together, groom each other, stand united against enemies and feed and care for each others' cubs.  My role as a doula is to be a sister-lioness and to stand in this space to bolster your womanly strength and help your pride to thrive.

Strength is not all a woman possesses.  She is strikingly lovely and has a special beauty to offer, like a lily.  The lilies of the field in the biblical geography are different from the popular florist and grocery store Asiatic lilies. The Crown Anemone Jesus personifies is the national flower of Israel. Anemone means "wind" in Greek. They are well deserving of the festival that is thrown annually in Israel to celebrate their delicate petals that carpet the ground in crimson.

The beauty of women, like these ancient flowers, is innate and unrivaled even by King Solomon, the richest and wisest man who ever lived. Childbirth is a time to celebrate the loveliness of woman, to gather in joy and witness her prowess and power.

My work is to help you see your birth process, not as a time of toil and spinning (aka stress and hard work), but as a graceful gift of bringing forth an abundant new life with strength, beauty and well-being.

"Consider the lilies how they grow:  they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these." -Luke 12:27
